The SA Foundation’s related business initiative called Turning Point Ventures International seeks to improve the level of social responsibility in its community by operating in a socially responsible business manner, and by conducting all business initiatives with a commitment to building healthy communities.

The SA Foundation’s Vision for Long-Term Sustainability: A Proactive Initiative

In addition to the SA Foundation’s vision of implementing its recovery program models for sexually exploited/trafficked youth, women and their children in cities worldwide, the SA Foundation also has a long-term vision for financial self-sustainability.

To reach this vision, the SA Foundation has laid the groundwork for the implementation of this related business venture to facilitate the coexisting social and economic priorities of the Foundation.

Within the SA Foundation, sustainability is defined as establishing related social enterprises that, contrary to business models which seek to maximize profits for shareholders, are designed to maximize social benefits for sexually exploited/trafficked youth and women as they receive their on-the-job shadowing and training within these enterprises, while at the same time providing the Foundation with the long-term financial sustainability needed to fulfill its charitable activities.

Turning Point Ventures International is meant to incorporate a cooperative of revenue-generating ventures under the Foundation and currently includes Global Wonders Handicrafts (Nepali line).

Global Wonders Handicrafts started to provide work to both women who are at risk to be sexually exploited and those living a life of sexual exploitation.

HOW GLOBAL WONDERS WORKS CHART

Currently, the SA Foundation has a project in Nepal that produces a line of jewelry that is sold in Canada. Items imported so far have been well accepted and proved to be hot commodities as gifts!

Global Wonders has three main goals:

  1. To protect and empower young women involved in projects in developing countries who have been sexually exploited or trafficked (or those at risk of becoming so) by giving them skills and paid work.
  2. To generate enough income to financially support each project’s budget.
  3. To provide job shadowing and job training to young women involved in projects in developed countries once the items are shipped to the Canadian distribution center.
